Late Payments Hurting Your Score? Let's Check Every One.
Payment history is the biggest factor in your credit score. One 30-day late can drop it fast. We review every late payment on all three bureaus and dispute anything inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable.
Why Late Payments Hit So Hard
Payment history makes up the largest share of your FICO score. A single late payment can cost a strong score dozens of points, and 60, 90, and 120-day lates do even more damage.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, late payments can stay on your report for up to seven years. The impact fades over time, but lenders still see them, and many mortgage programs look closely at the last 12 to 24 months.
Late Payment Errors We Find All the Time
Creditors and servicers make mistakes more often than most people think. Here is what we look for:
- Lates reported in months you paid on time
- The wrong number of days late (60 instead of 30)
- Lates reported during an approved deferment or forbearance
- Different late history on each bureau
- Lates still showing after an account was corrected
- Accounts that are not yours
How We Handle It
Here is how we handle late payments:
Full 3-Bureau Review
We pull your Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion reports and compare the payment history on every account, month by month.
Targeted Disputes
We dispute inaccurate and unverifiable lates with the bureaus and the creditors, using your rights under the FCRA.
Track and Follow Up
Bureaus generally have 30 days to investigate. We track every response and follow up on weak verifications.
Late Payment Disputes: Common Questions
Can an accurate late payment be removed?
Accurate, verified information can legally stay on your report. Removal is not guaranteed. Some creditors will agree to a goodwill adjustment, and we can guide you on how to ask.
How long do late payments stay on my report?
Up to seven years from the date of the late payment. The impact on your score gets smaller as the late gets older.
Will paying the account remove the late?
No. Bringing the account current stops new lates, but past lates stay unless they are inaccurate or the creditor agrees to change them.
How long does it take?
Each round of disputes usually takes about 30 days per bureau. Our FASTRAK program delivers results in as little as 7 to 21 days. Our Monthly Plan typically runs 3 to 9 months. Individual results vary.
What does it cost?
Our Monthly Plan is $250 to start, then $150 per month. FASTRAK is $899 one-time. We never charge per deletion.
