Charge-Offs Holding You Back? We Dispute Them.
A charge-off tells lenders you stopped paying a debt. It is one of the most damaging items on a credit report, and it is often reported with errors. We find them and challenge them.
What a Charge-Off Really Means
A creditor charges off a debt when it decides the balance is unlikely to be collected, usually after about 180 days of missed payments. It is an accounting move. It does not mean the debt is forgiven.
After a charge-off, the debt is often sold to a collector. That can leave two accounts on your report for the same debt. A charge-off can be reported for up to seven years from the date of first delinquency, and paying it does not reset that date.
Charge-Off Errors We Look For
Charged-off accounts are frequently reported incorrectly, especially after the debt is sold:
- A balance still showing after the debt was sold
- Both the creditor and collector reporting a balance
- Incorrect date of first delinquency
- Wrong payment history or account status
- Accounts past the seven-year limit
- Accounts opened by someone else

Charge-Off Removal: Common Questions
Is a charge-off the same as a collection?
No. A charge-off is reported by the original creditor. A collection is reported by the agency that bought or is collecting the debt. Only one of them should show a balance owed.
Will paying a charge-off raise my score?
A paid charge-off updates to a zero balance, which looks better to lenders reviewing your file, and many mortgage programs require charge-offs to be resolved. It does not remove the account.
Can a charge-off be removed?
If it is inaccurate, incomplete, or cannot be verified, it can be corrected or deleted through the dispute process. Nobody can honestly guarantee removal of an accurate account.
What does it cost?
Our Monthly Plan is $250 to start, then $150 per month. FASTRAK is $899 one-time with results in as little as 7 to 21 days. No per-deletion fees.
