Had a Car Repossessed? Let's Fix the Reporting.
A repossession can make it hard to get another car loan when you need it most. We review how your repo and any leftover balance are reported, then dispute everything that is inaccurate or cannot be verified.
How a Repossession Hits Your Credit
When a vehicle is repossessed, the lender sells it and applies the sale amount to your loan. If the sale does not cover what you owed, the lender may report a remaining deficiency balance, and that balance is often sold to a collector.
A repossession can be reported for up to seven years from the date of first delinquency. The late payments leading up to it, the repo itself, and any collection for the deficiency can all appear on your report.
Repo Reporting Errors We Look For
Repossessions involve several moving parts, which creates room for mistakes:
- Deficiency balance that does not reflect the sale amount
- Fees or charges that do not add up
- Repo and collection both showing the full balance
- Incorrect dates of first delinquency
- Wrong account status or payment history
- Items past the seven-year reporting limit
How We Handle It
We dig into the numbers and the reporting so you do not have to:
Account Review
We review the repo account and any related collection across all three bureaus.
Dispute Inaccuracies
We challenge balances, dates, and statuses that are inaccurate or cannot be verified, with the bureaus and the lender.
Get Back on the Road
We guide clients to banks that approve auto loans for rebuilding credit. Final approval always depends on the lender.
Repossession Removal: Common Questions
Was it a voluntary surrender or a repo?
Both are typically reported similarly. A voluntary surrender can still be reported as a repossession, and any deficiency balance can follow.
Do I still owe money after a repossession?
You may owe a deficiency balance if the sale did not cover the loan. That balance should be reported accurately, and errors can be disputed.
Can I get a car loan after a repo?
Yes, many people do. We work with banks that approve auto loans for clients rebuilding credit, often with low or zero down. Approval depends on the lender.
What does it cost?
Our Monthly Plan is $250 to start, then $150 per month. FASTRAK is $899 one-time. No per-deletion fees.
